This week’s picture came to mind when I needed a nice outfit to describe.  I purposely looked it up to do so.  You can let me know if I did it justice in this week’s quote farther below.

I am overjoyed to announce that last night I decided The Broken Rose was finally complete.  If that seems an odd phrasing then allow me to explain.  I was working on the story late Thursday night, trying to decide whether I’d push through and just finally finish this thing.  I’d started on what would’ve been an epilogue of sorts. TBR has what I call “letter” chapters where Aeris writes letters to herself in an effort of reclamation.  There were two chapters where this occurs, and I was planning on making the epilogue the magical three.  However, the next day upon reading and reflection, I realized nothing would be added to the story.  Epilogues and their counterparts prologues are dicey at best.  They should be used sparingly and only when absolutely necessary.  I realized that the information I’d be adding was already implied in the narrative, and not only that, but I loved the final line of the final chapter.  So it was on Friday as I read through my prior day writings that I concluded I was done.

Now begins the momentous task of editing the longest piece I’ve ever written.  2 and 3 are most necessary.  I have a little bit of macro-editing to do, though in my case I need to add a chapter in the beginning to better showcase Aeris’s utter helplessness.  I started thinking of situations/conversations where she literally couldn’t walk because she’d been so abused 😦   If it comes to my head, I almost always write it down.  All of it may not be useful, but I can usually garner some meaning from the morass.

It was odd last night having time to play FFIV and work on cataloguing all of the books I physically own onto Goodreads.  In the midst of my editing, I’m going to work on catching up on projects I left by the wayside in order to finish TBR.  While another fanfiction idea came to my mind (short…at least planned short, but so was this…), I’m going to try to hold off.  I usually don’t write and edit at the same time (in terms of stories), but we shall see.  I have many, many other projects to work on, so many that it’s making my head hurt hehe.  I’ve neglected my fanfiction writer friends to the point where I have a backlog, so I’m looking forward to catching up to that and my Goodreads list, as well.

I am planning on blogging my editing process for this story, too, similar to Northern Lights, (which is yet another thing I need to catch up on), but unlike that story, I don’t think it’s going to be written first by hand.  Too time consuming.

Anyway, I feel like I’m rambling, so I’m going to end with my quote and then play some FFIV and possibly continue work on my bookshelf/Goodreads list.

Quote: I’m sitting in…my room wearing clothes and jewelry.  How can I explain this dress?  It’s more than wonderful.  I don’t deserve it.  I don’t deserve to be swathed in such lovely clothes.  The color’s called lilac, and it’s made of two parts, a gauzy bit over the main.  They’re both the same color, but the outer is see-through like peering through a soft mesh.  I’m glad there’s something under.  I don’t want to be naked again.  The sleeves are real low right near my breast, and they leave my upper arms bare, but I have a shawl to wear over that.  I..don’t want to see too much skin.  The dress falls all the way down to my calves and is lined in silver smoke.  The same design also lines the breast and the edge of the sleeves.  A-And I have boots that reach my mid-calve right near where the garment does fall.  They match it with silver on the toes and traced around the inlays.  They’re soft inside.  It’s almost like walking on the carpet.  I don’t deserve this…or the rings on my fingers or the glittering jewels in my hair.  The rings are made of precious stones and the metal’s better than gold.  My master told me what all were called, but I’ve forgotten now.  I’ll have to ask him the names again so I can write them down.  One ring is redder than fire’s heart and the other is green like his eyes, but the light in his emerald is alive.  Oh!  That’s what the green is called.  It’s an emerald like his eyes, except it’s a cold, dead stone.  His eyes are better with their attendant light and their pupil shiver thin.  The jewels in my hair are like glittering snow.  It’s like a crown before my ribbon.

What are you currently working on?  Is it a creative writing project, essay, review, or something else?  Have you just started something new or are you wrapping up a long term project?  Have any of your works past or present reflected or spoken to a major issue of our error?
